Autumn is my favourite season. It's the absolute best. Every season comes with its own perks but nothing quite beats the coziness and beauty that autumn brings. It has the perfect temperature, the leaves turn gorgeous shades of orange and deep red, and most importantly it means the return of pumpkin spice lattes! I've been wanting to make some honeycomb for ages but couldn't justify making a whole batch just for the sake of it. So I thought I'd use it to decorate a cake to give it a real autumnal feel.
Honeycomb is super easy to make and thanks to the fabulous Lily Vanilli, I was able to whip up a batch in all of 20 minutes. And with only 3 ingredients! #Winning.
After all the necessary "quality control" taste testing, I used some of the shards for a vanilla cake along with some flaked almonds, pistachios and a few stems of my favourite flower at the moment - gypsophilia. Quite pleased with how all the colours worked together giving it a slight woodland vibe. Just a few simple additions and this plain white sponge went from 0 to 100 in no time.
